In the 1980’s, refugees fleeing Vietnam set up shop around the intersection of 12th and Jackson creating their own version of Saigon in Seattle. In the 1990’s new immigrants from places as diverse as East Africa and Central Europe arrived and contributed their unique piece to the rich cultural fabric of South Downtown.

Today South Downtown continues to lay out a welcome mat to individuals and families seeking the vibrant liefstyle Seattle has to offer. There's a wealth of opportunities available to those who choose to call this area of the city home. There simply is not a more cosmopolitan and vibrant community in which to live in Seattle. A richness of diversity and opportunity all within walking distance of Seattle’s urban downtown core. Living in South Downtown you can see the past and experience the future. Grab a bite to eat at the 105 year old Maneki restaurant, which was the first sushi bar in the country. Or catch a game at Safeco Field and watch a future Hall of Famer play. Living in South Downtown all of this is right at your doorstep.
